The AI and Metaliteracy OER Toolkit was developed through a collaborative effort by Nicola Marae Allain, Tom Mackey, and Eugenio Solis de Ovando.
Dr. Marae Allain, Dr. Mackey, and Dr. Solis de Ovando contributed assignments, discussions, and related course materials to the toolkit while also shaping its broader development. Together, they developed the overall framework, module structure, conceptual organization, and integration of AI and metaliteracy throughout the resource.
Additional SUNY Empire faculty colleagues contributed course-based materials that informed the toolkit.
The toolkit includes adapted course-based materials contributed by project team members and SUNY Empire faculty colleagues. These contributions include sample assignments, discussions, rubrics, and related teaching materials drawn from the courses represented in the toolkit.
In addition to adapted course materials, some content in this toolkit was developed specifically for this resource to strengthen AI integration, reflection, and metaliteracy development across the modules.
Various generative AI tools were used in the development of this toolkit, with substantial human involvement throughout. AI-supported work included framing and brainstorming, drafting module overviews, developing and refining assignment prompts, assisting with rubric development, generating images and avatar materials, and offering recommendations for organization and structure.
All AI-supported content was reviewed, edited, selected, and substantially shaped by the project team. Human contributors made the instructional, design, and editorial decisions for the final resource.
